CONNAH'S Quay will have to end a 16-year hoodoo to respond to manager Mark McGregor's rallying call to "stand up and be counted" when they face The New Saints at their Deeside Stadium on Friday night.

The Nomads went down to a 2-1 extra-time Welsh Cup defeat at Welsh League Afan Lido on Saturday and now McGregor is rallying his players to push on in the league.
And McGregor has called on his players to respond by putting on an improved show against the Saints.
"We’ve got 17 games and the minimum we need is probably 30 points, so we need 10 victories from those games," he says.
"We’ve got some tough ones, especially on Friday night with TNS, but this is it now. There’s no turning back and everybody’s got to stand up and be counted."
But the Saints have a good record on Deeside in recent seasons and have lost only once in 16 league visits, 3-2 in their first League of Wales campaign back in 1994.
Last season they won 2-0 with goals from Tommy Holmes and Jamie Wood, but McGregor added: "They’ve gone 16 games unbeaten and it’s our first Friday night home match in a long time so hopefully we’ll have some extra liveliness about us.
"With it being a night game under the lights, we’ll try and create a good atmosphere and hopefully we can do to them what Afan Lido did to us and cause an upset. If we go and put in a decent performance then we can get something."
