'H' celebrates milestone with a clean sheet

Paul Harrison

GOALKEEPER Paul Harrison celebrated a personal Welsh Premier milestone by keeping a clean sheet at Carmarthen Town on Saturday.

Harrison, who celebrated his 27th birthday on Sunday, was making his 150th consecutive league appearance for the Saints.
'H' as he is known to his team-mates at Park Hall, joined The New Saints after the end of the 2006/7 season when first-choice Gerard Doherty was injured ahead of the Uefa Champions League ties with Ventspils.
He made his debut in the home leg, a 3-2 win at Newtown's Latham Park and, after a brief spell as debuty to Docherty, made his Welsh Premier debut in a 2-1 home win over Port Talbot Town on 15 September 2007.
Since then he has made the gloves his own and after making 29 more appearances that season, has been ever-present since to reach the 150-mark.
He has eclipsed the previous record of 117 consecutive appearances for the club by Andy Mulliner, who now coaches him, between August 1995 and October 1997.
After spending time as a youth with Liverpool and Leeds United, Paul spent some time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Chester City, where he made four first-team appearances.
A brief spell at Hereford United was followed by time at Southport, but he was released by former Bangor City boss Peter Davenport at the end of season 2006/7.
He played for the Liverpool Legends at Anfield on the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
