Darlington praises his Carmarthen mudlarks

SAINTS' first team manager Carl Darlington praised his mudlarks after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Carmarthen Town at a rain-soaked Richmond Park on Saturday.
With title rivals Bangor City and Llanelli also winning on the road, it was important for TNS to win and maintain their bid for the crown as the mid-season split approaches.
"It had been raining in south Wales all week and the conditions were terrible but we stuck to the task well," Darlington said.
"The main thing was that we came away with the three points with Llanelli winning the night before.
"We dominated the game, we passed the ball well in the right areas and in the first half we had 15 crosses into the box, but couldn't make the most of them."
The breakthrough arrived early as Alex Darlington profited from a mistake by goalkeeper Rhys Wilson, who dropped a Craig Jones cross, and Darlington reserved praise for the scorer.
"Getting the early goal was important as it gave us a platform. Although the keeper flapped at it, Alex still had a lot to do in the conditions," he added.
