Saints bidding for a festive double over Robins

THE New Saints are bidding for a festive double when they take on Newtown again at Park Hall on New Year's Monday (2.30pm).
In the final game before the mid-season split and a short winter break, TNS will want to capitalise on their 3-1 win at Latham Park, which kept them hot on the coat tails of leaders Bangor City.
New director of football Craig Harrison will be in the dugout for the first time alongside first-team coach Carl Darlington with midfielder Barry Hogan suspended for today's game.
Nicky Ward is back in training after a mystery groin injury but may not be considered for selection.
Meanwhile Newtown make the return trip with manager Bernard McNally insisting his side are capable of springing an upset.
An attack-minded formation in the Christmas duel earned the Robins praise from supporters, with the strugglers leading before a three goal burst swung the game back in favour of the Saints.
However McNally insisted his side’s spirits remain high despite defeat.
"If we can take anything from the game it is that we started with an attacking 4-3-3 formation and it surprised them," he said.
"Perhaps TNS came here thinking that we would be more defensive but we are a passing side and we always feel capable of scoring goals."
McNally pointed to the second-half introduction of former Robin Scott Ruscoe as the chief reason behind the Saints fightback, after they failed to impress for large sections of the match.
