WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE PRESTATYN TOWN v THE NEW SAINTS Friday 9 Jan 2009 / Bastion Road MATCH POSTPONED |
![]() |
Earlier in the day, the Seasiders had pronounced the game "definitely on" following a one o'clock inspection, but a quick walk on the Bastion Road surface at 6.30pm revealed it was bone hard, and match official Kevin Parry would have had little difficulty in making his decision in the interests of player safety.
It left everyone - and particularly the visitors - wondering whether the person responsible for making the lunchtime decision had taken account of the fact that the temperature which had caused the frozen pitch in the first place, was forecast to plummet again to below zero later in the day.
If he had, he would have avoided considerable inconvenience and expense for many people, not least the travelling support, many of whom had travelled long distances and for whom the postponement came too late in the day.
