The result leaves TNS with just two wins from their last six games, but Cale said: “Crisis, what crisis?”.
“That's just five points dropped at home this season so there’s no panic, although we didn’t do enough to win today. “Newtown defended magnificently and we failed to use the vast amount of possession we had. I’m disappointed, but we’ll keep working.”
Team selection baffled many regular supporters with man-of-the-match in his last game, centre-back Rob Williams, left out of the squad. The Saints quickly revealed a soft centre when Shaun Sutton was allowed space to head the Robins into a fifth-minute lead from a Craig Williams corner.
And, with Scott Ruscoe marking his 300th Welsh Premier appearance with the left-back role, some midfield creativity was missing.
John Toner struggled up front in the absence of target man Michael Wilde, rumoured to be leaving in the January window, but Matthew Berkeley showed promise of things to come and capped a good performance with a superbly-taken 20th-minute equaliser after a one-two with Ruscoe.
Newtown boss Darren Ryan was delighted with the point: “It’s a fantastic result for us. All 14 players involved were magnificent," he said after his side's second draw with the Saints this season.
