Saints seek Oval happy return

WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
CAERNARFON TOWN v THE NEW SAINTS
Saturday 24 Jan 2009 / The Oval / 1.00pm
TNS v Caernarfon
Scott Ruscoe scores in the home game against the Canaries earlier this season.
THE New Saints head for one of their happier hunting grounds on Saturday when face bottom club Caernarfon Town.
They have scored seven goals twice at The Oval in the last four seasons and also recorded a couple of 3-1 wins, including the Welsh Premier title clincher in April 2006.
New midfield signing Conall Murtagh and stalwart defender Tommy Holmes are set to miss the encounter with injuries, which could see a recall for centre-back Rob Williams, while TNS will be up against a familiar face in John Lawless, who joined the Canaries last week from Marine.
Management duo Andy Cale and Mike Davies could turn to John McKenna in midfield, while Matthew Berkeley could partner John Toner in a striking role following the departure of Michael Wilde, whose move to Blue Square North outfit Fleetwood Town was completed on Friday morning.
The Saints are now actively seeking a replacement marksman before the transfer window closes on February 2.
Although the hosts are nine points adrift if the pack with just two wins in the current campaign, manager David Rowe says he is "100% confident" they will beat the drop.
He has also brought in Andy Moran to partner Lee Furlong upfront, although the ex-Rhyl marksman is unlikely to make the starting line-up as he recovers from an injury.
