Old Gold test in Welsh Cup

FAW WELSH CUP FOURTH ROUND
THE NEW SAINTS v CARMARTHEN TOWN
Saturday 31 Jan 2009 / Park Hall / 2.00pm
TNS v Carmarthen
Carmarthen shocked TNS in last season's league encounter.
A PLACE in the last eight of the Welsh Cup is at stake as The New Saints host high-flying Welsh Premier opponents Carmarthen Town.
With 21 points from their last 24 in the league, the Old Gold will provide tough opposition as they seek to repeat their shock 3-0 league victory at Park Hall last season.
Barry Hogan, Tommy Holmes, Conall Murtagh and Jamie Wood all face a race to be fit for the encounter which comes a week before the crunch Welsh Premier clash against Llanelli.
"They are two very big games for us which could have a big bearing on our season," says Saints' head coach Andy Cale.
Town boss Deryn Brace insists his side must be fully switched on if they are to overcome TNS and believes only the best will do.
"The cup game is a one-off. Some say that they are having an indifferent season but we'd still like to be having their season.
"They are third in the league, still in the cup like ourselves and we certainly can't underestimate them.
"They may not be doing as well as over the last few years but they are still up there challenging and drawing them is probably the draw that no one wanted.
"But we have got to look forward to it rather than worry about it. We have to set our stall out, believe in what we're doing and go there and enjoy it as much as possible."
