Darlo grabs late Derby winner

WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
TECHNOGROUP WELSHPOOL 1-2 THE NEW SAINTS

Welshpool v TNS
John Toner celebrates the TNS equaliser.
A STOPPAGE time goal from sub Alex Darlington handed The New Saints a 2-1 victory over Welshpool in the local derby at Maesydre.
In an eminently forgettable, end of season affair, both sides found it impossible to play creative football or keep the ball down on a hard and bumpy surface and in a blustery wind.
The Saints rested several key players ahead of Saturday's visit to Rhyl, and chances were extremely hard to come by, the visitors restricted to a long range Phil Baker effort in the first half.
But 'Pool could have taken a half-time lead when Mike Thompson hit the far post after Paul Roberts had fired over from his free-kick.
Early in the second period, the goal drought was broken twice within the space of a minute. A poor clearance from TNS keeper Paul Harrison was headed back towards goal by Timmy Edwards and Roberts had time to pick his spot and open the home account.
But the Saints were back level within a minute with a rare moment of quality football, Craig Williams crossing from the right for John Toner to send a glancing header into the far corner.
The game looked headed for an inevitable draw until Darlington tried a speculative effort from wide on the left in the fourth minute of added time, which deceived keeper Danny Jones and found the net off his legs.
