Fans shocked by Leah exit

John Leah
John Leah celebrates his penalty in this year's League Cup final.
SUPPORTERS have been stunned by the news that club stalwart John Leah will not be offered terms for next season.
The 30-year-old was the fans' choice as player of the season at the end of last year's campaign and was voted Welsh Premier player of the season by the league managers just two years ago.
The only current player to have appeared in the green and white before the Total Network Solutions era, midfielder Leah played for Llansantffraid in season 1996/7 and stands fourth on the club's all-time appearance list with 205 league starts from which he has scored 25 goals.
He made seven Football League starts for Darlington, returning to the domestic league with Newtown before returning to Treflan in 2001.
During the past eight seasons he has picked-up three Welsh Premier championships as well as two League Cup, one Welsh Cup and one FAW Premier Cup winners' medals.
He also appeared 11 times in Europe, including a substitute role when the Saints lost 3-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League.
A great clubman, Leah is also a dead ball specialist who has scored some spectacular long range goals during his TNS career and, voted into the league's dream team for a second time a year ago, is sure to be snapped-up quickly by another club.
Also released by the Saints is central defender Rob Williams, a product of the TNS Scholarship Scheme who has made more Welsh Premier appearances in loan spells at Newtown and Caersws than for his home club.
The Blackpool-born 21-year-old made 13 (+10) appearances for TNS after making his debut in season 2005/6.
