Saints axe Carter and Courtney

Alfie Carter
Alfie Carter, four seasons at TNS.
ALFIE Carter and Duane Courtney have joined John Leah and Robbie Williams in being shown the TNS exit door.
Carter joined the Saints after impressing for Telford in a pre-season friendly in August 2005, but has been plagued by injuries during his four seasons with the club in which he scored 27 goals from 47 (+20) Welsh Premier appearances.
The 28-year-old had Football League experience with Walsall and also played for Halesowen Town, Stafford Rangers, Bromsgrove Rovers, Newport County and Bath City.
He was placed on the transfer list by TNS a year ago, but remained at the club, managing just nine full and seven substitute appearances in the current campaign, scoring six times.
Defender Courtney is a former team-mate of Carter's at the New Bucks Head and joined TNS in September 2006 after being released by Championship outfit Burnley.
A former Derby County schoolboy and Birmingham City trainee, Courtney was voted Telford's player of the season in 2004/5, attracting attention from League clubs, with Burnley beating Wolverhampton Wanderers to his signature for a fee of £27,000. He made 65 Welsh Premier starts for TNS, scoring four goals.
