THE New Saints will host Irish League runners-up Linfield in a Europa League warm-up match at Park Hall in June. Double winners in Northern Ireland three times in a row until last season, the Belfast club have twice played host to the Saints in pre-season, the latest two years ago when they ran out 2-1 winners at Windsor Park, despite an opening goal from Michael Wilde.
Their grip on a Champions League place ended this year as their dominance was finally broken by Glentoran, who denied their arch-rivals a fourth consecutive crown, winning the title by a point on the last day of the season when Michael Halliday scored a last-gasp equaliser to earn the Glens a precious 1-1 draw at home to Linfield.
Three days after the match, on Saturday 20 June, TNS travel to face Llanelli in another European warm-up at the training ground adjacent to Parc Y Scarlets.
