THERE may have been no play in the Ashes Test at Edgbaston, but The New Saints hit Colwyn Bay for six on a sun-drenched Llanelian Road pitch.

The Saints trailed early-on to a Rob Hopley penalty after Tommy Holmes had fouled, injuring himself in the process to be replaced by Steve Evans. But new loan signing Steve Abbott wasted little time in opening his account, powering a 12-yard header from Chris Seargeant's first time cross.
The excellent Craig Jones provided the delivery from which Abbott miscued just before half-time, but Jamie Wood was on hand to net the rebound from close range.
After the break, TNS simply ripped the Seagulls apart with half-time subs Ryan Marriott and Alex Darlington combining for the ex-Wrexham man to head the third.
Craig Williams set-up Darlington for his second, before he was forced-off with a foot injury, but the rampant Saints continued to pile forward and Matthew Berkeley set-up Williams for the fifth with a 12-yarder on 57 minutes.
Craig Whitfield was denied a stonewall penalty which the referee claimed he didn't see, before Williams rattled the bar with a cross.
In a rare home attack, Kevin Holsgrove provided for Hopley, but his effort was easily saved by Paul Harrison before Williams lashed the sixth goal from 15 yards.
Tom McGill had the last word with another consolation for the shell-shocked hosts, with only a good stop preventing Whitfield from adding a seventh near the end.
