Saints get the Abbott habit at Chester
Saints get the Abbott habit at Chester

WHILE Chester awaited their FA and Conference fate today, The New Saints beat a full-strength City outfit 2-0 at the Deva Stadium in another pre-season warm-up game.
Steve Abbott (pictured) scored his second goal in two outings since arriving from Wrexham last week, with summer signing from Bangor City Chris Seargeant also on target.
The Saints had been due to meet Mike Wadsworth's side at Park Hall on Tuesday night, but an FA ban means Chester are unable to play in public games and the match was switched to a behind-closed-doors affair at the Deva.
Meanwhile, City officials are at Rushden & Diamonds' Nene Park ground today to hear whether they will be allowed to take their place in the Blue Square Premier this season - they are scheduled to play Grays Athletic on Saturday in their opening fixture.
