ALEX Darlington and Tommy Holmes will miss The New Saints' opening Welsh Premier game of the season at home to Prestatyn Town on Friday night.
Both picked-up injuries in the 6-2 pre-season romp at Colwyn Bay two weeks ago, but head coach Andy Cale and assistant Mike Davies still have plenty of options to face the Seasiders.
Indeed, the absence of two injured players eases the management duo's selection problems, with a large squad all vying for a place in the curtain raiser.
On-loan Wrexham frontman Steve Abbott is in-line for his league debut after impressing since arriving from the Racecourse, while new signings Chris Seargeant and Craig Jones can earn a midfield berth, with debutant full-backs Danny Holmes and Chris Marriott.
Davies is hoping that TNS can get off to a flyer in the race for the title with the first three fixtures all at Park Hall.
“We’ve got three home games coming up so it’s important to start well and look to get nine points,” he says.
The visitors could hand a debut to former Newtown defender Adrian Moody, who joined them yesterday.
