CARMARTHEN Town are in Oswestry on Saturday as The New Saints bid to continue their winning start to the new Welsh Premier League campaign.
But the Saints have several injury and illness concerns going into the game."Whilst training continues to go well, we have had a few set-backs with illnesses in the past few days, Steve Abbott being the worst-affected with suspected swine flu," says assistant manager Mike Davies.
Steve Evans, Matthew Berkeley, Tommy Holmes and Alex Darlington are also on the sick or injured list.
While delighted with the opening night win over Prestatyn, Davies is wary of the threat posed by Carmarthen, although the Saints hit them for eight at Park Hall just a few weeks ago.
"The first game of the season is always difficult as you don’t know what you are up against, so it was fantastic to make such a good start with a 5-0 win against Prestatyn," he says.
"The lads were all absolutely first class.
"Today will prove an altogether more difficult challenge as Carmarthen will be expected to qualify for Europe this season.
"They have provided us with a number of difficult games in recent seasons and today will be no different."
