HEAD coach Andy Cale was pleased with The New Saints' performance as they maintained a 100% start with a 2-0 home victory over Carmarthen Town.
"We dominated the game in large parts and we missed three or four really goodchances," he said."Credit to Carmarthen, they kept battling and especially in the second half they kept the ball well and made us work really hard for the result.
"But I was pleased with the way we stuck in there and I'm delighted with a two-nil result at home."
The Saints had taken the lead just before half-time when Jamie Wood steered his shot past the despairing dive of Old Gold keeper Neil Thomas after a good run down the right by full-back Danny Holmes.
Carmarthen were mainly restricted to long range efforts as the TNS defence held firm, but it took a superb goal from sub Aeron Edwards with virtually the last kick to make the result safe,
Visiting manager Deryn Brace took a different view of the proceedings: "I don't think in terms of football TNS will be outplayed all season as much as they were today," he said.
"There are lots of plusses but no points."
