Scholarship products in Newtown loan deals

TWO young products of the TNS Scholarship Scheme are headed to Newtown in loan deals to develop their Welsh Premier first-team experience.
Despite some encouraging performances in green and white, Ryan Marriott and John McKenna have both found it difficult to cement first team places in the current large squad and will be given the opportunity for more regular action at Latham Park in Darren Ryan's bid for a Super 12 spot.
Marriott, 21, made his Welsh Premier debut as a substitute against Caersws FC on 1 September 2007 and has since scored two goals from five full and nine substitute appearances.
He has scored against Newtown this season in both the league and League Cup, and also notched the Saints' second goal in the 2-0 Welsh Cup win at Conwy United.
McKenna, 19, who will link-up with Newtown when he regains full fitness, is a Liverpudlian who has represented the English Colleges Under-19s and started 19 league games for TNS as well as appearing the same number of times from the bench.
The undoubted highlight of his career to date were two goals in the 4-1 League Cup quarter-final defeat of Llanelli in October.
Two players have already trodden the same path in recent seasons, with Rob Williams and Mark Davies both spending time at Newtown.
Williams made 11 Welsh Premier starts for the Robins and is now a regular in the back line for Blue Square Premier side Altrincham.
