THE New Saints' managing director Mike Harris has resigned his seat on the Football Association of Wales Council.

Representing the Welsh Premier clubs on the ruling body, Harris said: "I feel that I have gone as far as I can in representing the interests of the league and its clubs.
"I have been unable to obtain satisfactory answers to some issues that I have raised and feel that there could now be a conflict of interest between the Welsh Premier and my own club, The New Saints, which will now be best served by my working outside the shackles of being an FAW Councillor.
"I also want to concentrate my efforts and expertise on further developing The New Saints at a crucial time for the league."
Last month, the FAW did a U-turn on moves to remove the Welsh Premier's seat from its ruling Council.
Former secretary general David Collins had circulated clubs with notice of a special meeting to abolish the position, to which the representative is elected by the 18 league clubs, but the threat was withdrawn.
A fresh election will now be needed to find a successor to take over from Mike Harris.
