Key players miss cup quarter-final
Friday 26 February 2010
BOTH The New Saints and Port Talbot Town will be without key players for Saturday's Welsh Cup quarter-final clash at Park Hall (2.30pm).
The Saints' January transfer window signing from Bangor City, Chris Sharp (pictured), is cup-tied which could see a recall for frontman Steve Abbott, who has been sidelined for the last two games since the Welsh Premier defeat at Connah's Quay.
But the Steelmen will be without leading scorer Liam McCreesh, who has notched 11 league goals this season, including the brace that defeated TNS in the league match at the GenQuip Stadium.
McCreesh is suspended, along with experienced midfielder Gareth Phillips, so visiting boss Mark Jones will be forced to ring the changes.
TNS have already beaten Talbot twice in Oswestry this season, 2-0 in the Loosemores League Cup semi-final second leg and 1-0 in last month's league clash when Steve Evans scored the game's only goal.
