Nomads blow title race wide open
Nomads blow title race wide open
Wednesday 24 March 2010
THE race for the Welsh Premier title is wide open again after Llanelli went down to a 1-0 defeat at Gap Connah's Quay on Tuesday night.
The New Saints' draw at Elements Cefn Druids on Friday night appeared to have all but ended their hopes of regaining the crown, but Sam McNutt's goal for the Nomads means that the Reds are still four points adrift of top spot and now have three games in hand.
The live TV clash with Llanelli at Park Hall on Sunday now takes on added significance and a win would put the Saints seven points clear of their rivals, who face a hectic schedule in the remaining weeks of the season to clear their backlog of fixtures.
Nomads have now beaten all of the current top three - TNS, Llanelli and Aberystwyth - at the Deeside Stadium this season.
