TV showdown "won't decide title race"
Saturday 27 March 2010
SUNDAY'S live TV game between title rivals The New Saints and Llanelli will not decide the destiny of the Welsh Premier crown, according to the Reds' player-boss Andy Legg.
Both contenders suffered setbacks last time out, with the Saints held to a draw at bottom club Elements Cefn Druids and the Reds going down to a shock 1-0 midweek defeat at Gap Connah’s Quay.
"There will be other twists and turns before the season ends," promised Legg.
"But even if we lose this one we would be seven points behind and have three games in hand, so nothing will be decided."
Llanelli will be without injured duo Chris Holloway and Michael Howard, while defender Lee Phillips faces a late race for fitness.
Meanwhile, the Saints' Welsh international defender Steve Evans has recovered from a dead leg sustained in the Plas Kynaston draw and management duo Andy Cale and Mike Davies are expected to have a full-strength squad from which to select.
TNS have already beaten their rivals twice this season, 2-0 away in the league and 4-1 at home in the Loosemores League Cup quarter-finals.
