Steve Abbott returns to the Racecourse
Wednesday 28 April 2010
STEVE Abbott has returned to Wrexham after completing his season-long loan spell with The New Saints.
Midfielder 'Russ', as he was know to the squad, arrived at Park Hall last summer as a makeshift striker and contributed seven goals from 21 (+10) appearances in the Welsh Premier and the Loosemores League Cup.
A member of the England Universities team that won the 2006 British University Games with a 100% record, he was awarded a two-year deal by Wrexham in the summer of 2008 but, after finding it difficult to break into the first team ranks at the Racecourse, was loaned to TNS.
He has also played for Wigan Athletic, Leigh RMI, Congleton Town, St Helens Town and Team Bath, where he studied for a career in teaching while helping the varsity side to gain promotion to the Conference South.
Everyone at TNS wishes Steve all the best for the future.
