Saints rarely troubled in Linfield draw

Linfield v TNS

THE New Saints picked-up where they left-off last Saturday with another excellent result in Northern Ireland as they held champions Linfield to a goal-less draw.

With a Champions League away leg at Bohemians looming in just over a week, the TNS management was delighted to keep a clean sheet in a game where keeper Paul Harrison was rarely troubled.
Saints had the best of the few chances on offer, with Matty Williams firing a fierce 25-yarder early on straight at keeper Alan Blayney.
Only a last-ditch tackle from Kris Lindsay stopped a good run on goal by Chris Sharp, who shot straight at Blayney just before the break.
Linfield's best chance came when Michael Carvill hit the side netting after being put through by Jim Ervin and Curtis Allon's shot went just over the bar.
Barry Hogan tried a long range effort for the visitors and substitute Jamie Wood could have sealed victory for the Saints late on, skewing his shot wide from an Alex Darlington pass and then sending another effort from 25-yards just wide of the target.
