Saints on top in Bucks' friendly

TNS v Telford

TWO first-half goals from Chris Sharp and Matty Williams gave the Saints a comfortable win over AFC Telford at Park Hall.

There was an element of farce about the opening goal which arrived after just five minutes. A Danny Holmes cross was headed back across goal and, although Bucks' keeper Ryan Young got a hand to Chris Sharp's header, he could only look-on helpless as the ball trickled over the line.
There was nearly a repeat from another Sharp effort after Young had parried an initial shot from Craig Jones, but this time Young scrambled back in time to retrieve the situation.
Only a last ditch tackle from Stuart Whitehead denied Matty Williams when through on goal, but the striker did score his first goal in green and white on 37 minutes, steering the ball into the far corner at full-stretch after Chris Marriott had outpaced ex-TNS wing back Martyn Naylor down the left.
Multiple substitutions for both sides after the break disrupted the flow from both sides, but the Saints were never troubled at the back, with Alex Meecham going closest for the visitors with two efforts which were both well wide of the target.
