THE New Saints' coach Carl Darlington has led the Welsh Under-19 women to European success in Slovenia.
Darlington missed the Saints' 7-0 win over Carmarthen Town at Park Hall on Saturday as he watched his female charges beat host nation Slovenia 4-2 to win qualification to the next phase of the UEFA Women's Under 19 Championship.
After a tight first half, during which goalkeeper Yvette Churchill impressed, a long curving shot from Rachel Rowe hit the target just on half time, giving the young Swansea City midfielder, who turned 18 yesterday, something extra to celebrate.
Two second-half goals in quick succession from Hannah Keryakoplis and Nia Jones put Wales in command, although Slovenia pulled a goal back through a Kristina Erman free-kick.
Sharla Passariello added a third goal for the Welsh just a minute later, before the host nation scored again through another Erman set-piece.
Darlington's side now Elite round of the championship, which will take place between 28th March and 3rd April 2011.
In the other Group 6 match, France beat Georgia 11-0 and Wales now face France in Stojnci on Thursday in the group decider, before Darlington returns to join manager Mike Davies in the TNS dugout for Friday night's Welsh premier fixture against his former club Airbus UK Broughton.
