Saints return to 2.30 kick-offs for Talbot visit

TNS v Port TalbotKICK-OFF times are back at 2.30pm as The New Saints host Port Talbot Town in the Welsh Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Introduced at the behest of S4C Television, the earlier 2.00pm starts have proved unpopular with the majority of clubs and the league has now agreed with the broadcasters that fixtures will revert to their traditional 2.30pm slot.
The Steelmen have a poor record away to TNS and lost to a Steve Evans goal on their last league visit to Park Hall. But they sprang a shock in the Welsh Cup, winning a penalty shoot-out after battling to a 2-2 draw in extra-time.
Although boosted by a midweek League Cup win at Llanelli, manager Mark Jones admits the club's recent poor league form is worrying, with just one point from the last four outings.
"This has been one of the most difficult periods in my last five years as a manager but I have every faith in my players and the tide will turn," he says.
"We lost three valuable players in the summer in Scott Barrow, Neil Thomas and Danny Thomas, but they wanted to leave and Port Talbot do not keep players back.
"But we have a strong squad and have showed again this week that we can mix it with the best.
"We have to be strong and disciplined at Saints to get anything from the game.
"I'll settle for a point, but they will make it difficult for us on their plastic pitch. The lads are raring to go as this is the biggest test of all."
The Saints are also keen to get back to winning ways after dropping two points to a late penalty at Airbus in their last league outing, and manager Mike Davies has defender Tommy Holmes back in the frame following a three-match ban.
