Saints cruise into league cup last four

HOLDERS The New Saints still have their hands on the Loosemores League Cup after a 2-2 draw at The Airfield set-up a two-legged semi-final clash with Bangor City.
Goals from Matthew Berkeley and Craig Williams gave the Saints a 4-0 aggregate lead, before two late goals restored some respectability for Airbus UK Broughton.
Manager Mike Davies welcomed back Aeron Edwards and Chris Marriott from long term injuries but rested seven members of his normal starting line-up to give a chance to some of his other squad players.
After a mundane first period, Berkeley killed-off the Wingmakers' hopes on 56 minutes with some fancy footwork that bemused the home defence, before planting his shot wide of keeper Chris Doran.
Williams then added a spectacular 25-yard pile-driver into the top corner after the hosts had only partially cleared from a corner.
But some sloppy defending allowed sub Simon Smith to reduce the arrears with a far post header from a right-wing cross.
And, in a repeat of the league meeting between the sides last month, Airbus were awarded a last minute penalty, converted by Andy Moran, after Connell Rawlinson was penalised for a push.
Williams almost snatched a winner in stoppage time with another long range effort which hit the woodwork.
