THE New Saints have suspended their captain and former Welsh international defender Steve Evans.
The 31-year-old, who has made 190 Welsh Premier appearances in Saints' colours either side of a two-year spell with Wrexham, was absent from last night's 2-2 Loosemores League Cup draw against Airbus UK Broughton at The Airfield.
"The New Saints have suspended Steve Evans for a publicised incident pending a disciplinary hearing that will be held next week," says a spokesperson for the club.
"He was unable to play last night and will not take part in Sunday's Welsh Premier fixture against Aberystwyth Town, or any further games, until the outcome of the hearing is known.
"We take disciplinary matters very seriously and, whilst Steve is our captain and one of our most significant players, as a full-time professional club we have to uphold certain standards."
Evans was capped seven times by Wales whilst with Wrexham and has also represented his country at semi-professional level.
