Game ON as Davies forced to dig deep
Game ON as Davies forced to dig deep

THE strength of manager Mike Davies' squad will be fully tested when The New Saints take on Airbus UK Broughton in tonight's Welsh Cup clash, which survived a precautionary inspection at 11.30am and is definitely ON.
Davies is without suspended duo Steve Evans and Chris Sharp, as well as injured trio Tommy and Danny Holmes and Chris Marriott, but he insists his squad has strength in depth.
“It’s not ideal, they’re big players we’re missing but I have got more confidence in the squad than ever so we’ve got good lads to step in, who are more than capable of getting the result we need," says Davies.
And he expects a tough battle against a side whose performances haven’t been reflected in their results.
"We’ve played them three times already this season and they’re a good footballing team who like to play the way we do, credit to them," he added.
"I think they’re unfortunate to be in the league position they are, they’re better than that."
To progress into the last 16, the Saints will need to record their first away success of the campaign, but Davies is confident they will turn the corner sooner rather than later.
"I know our league form away from home isn’t good on paper, but I think the performances have been good. We just need to keep doing what we’re doing and it will come eventually."
