Saints handed tough task at Rhyl in Welsh Cup
Monday 08 November 2010
THE fourth round draw for the FAW Welsh Cup has thrown-up a stiff task for The New Saints with a trip to meet Rhyl at Belle Vue in late January.
Despite their relegation from the Welsh Premier last season, the Lilywhites remain a tough proposition and showed their mettle with a stunning knockout of big-spenders Neath at The Gnoll on Saturday.
Greg Strong's side held the Eagles to a 1-1 draw after extra-time, winning a penalty shoot-out 7-6.
One of the mainstays in the Rhyl set-up is ex-Saints' midfielder John Leah and there is sure to be a bumper crowd in attendance for the game against one two arch-rivals of the past few seasons.
The draw in full (ties to be played on or before 29 January 2011):
Bangor City v Haverfordwest County
Carmarthen Town v GAP Connah’s Quay
Cefn Druids v Llanelli / Aberystwyth
Grange Quins v Bridgend Town
Port Talbot Town v Caersws FC
Rhos Aelwyd v Prestatyn Town
Rhyl FC v The New Saints
UWIC v Bala Town
