Prestatyn boss pays tribute to TNS loan keeper
Saturday 20 November 2010
PRESTATYN manager Neil Gibson has paid tribute to TNS loanee keeper Simon Williams and club physio Peter Talbot.
Former Chester City youth Williams made his debut for Seasiders in last weekend's home win over Newtown despite sustaining a training injury.
Forced into action through the suspension of first-choice stopper Jon Hill-Dunt, Williams made some superb saves as Prestatyn recorded a 2-1 win and Gibson says: "For a 19-year-old lad to go out there strapped up, 70% fit and play as well as he did speaks volumes for his character.
"We also appreciate the work the physio at TNS did on Simon during the week.
"It was just a little disappointing we conceded a soft goal from a free-kick right at the end as Simon deserved a clean sheet."
Simon has yet to make his TNS debut since joining the club's Europa League squad two seasons ago as cover for Paul Harrison and also spent much of last season on-loan with his home town club.
He is again called into action by Town for today's home game against Aberystwyth.
