Saints face Leah-less Rhyl in cup
Saints face Leah-less Rhyl in cup
Friday 28 January 2011
THE New Saints will bid for a place in the last eight of the Welsh Cup at Rhyl on Saturday but won't be facing their former stalwart midfielder John Leah.
A midweek transfer to Airbus UK Broughton means the 32-year-old will be absent from the Lillies' line-up who will face two of their former players in Chris Sharp and Matty Williams.
The live televised tie, which kicks-off at 3.00pm, comes at the end of a turbulent week for Rhyl, who announced on Thursday night that fresh financial problems means they won't be able to qualify for the FAW's domestic licence, a situation which saw them relegated from the top flight less than a year ago.
Clashes between Rhyl and TNS were always a highlight of the season for both clubs, so this knockout affair is sure to attract a big crowd to Belle Vue.
Danny Holmes is suspended for the Saints.
