FORMER The New Saints midfielder and assistant manager Gary Brabin is the new boss of Luton Town. The Blue Square Premier outfit has announced that boss Richard Money has left by mutual consent despite the Hatters lying third in the table.
"I am very proud to have the best record of any Luton Town manager but we all know that these are highly unusual circumstances with only one league position being considered as success," commented Money.
"I leave the manager's post with the Club in a solid position to enter the play-offs and this season we have achieved this by producing some quality football. However, from now to the end of the season is crucial."
Brabin arrived at Kenilworth Road at the same time as Money in November 2009 after a successful spell taking Cambridge United into the play-off final and was named Conference manager of the year.
A highly experienced and combative midfielder with more than 200 Football League appearances under his belt for Torquay, Hull City, Blackpool, Bury and Doncaster Rovers, Brabin first appeared in the Welsh Premier in 2002 after joining TNS from then Conference outfit Chester and went on to make 47 league starts before suffering a bout of breathlessness at Connah's Quay in February 2004.
He decided to retire from the game on medical advice and joined Unibond Leaguers Witton Albion as assistant manager, but surprisingly resurrected his playing career in summer 2005 with moves to Halifax Town, Southport and Burscough.
He returned to TNS in June 2007 as assistant to Ken McKenna, who is now manager of Conference rivals Altrincham.
