THE New Saints' boss Mike Davies is refusing to dwell on Welsh Cup exit as his side bids for maximum points at Prestatyn tonight (Friday). A 1-0 semi-final defeat at the hands of Llanelli ended their treble dream last week, but Davies says: "It is obviously disappointing to lose in a semi-final, but we still have a lot to play for this season.
"If you had offered me this position in January I would have bitten your hands off."
The Saints are boosted by the return of winger Richie Partridge following a lay-off but defender Connell Rawlinson has sustained a training injury with Chris Marriott and Alex Darlington already ruled out.
"We have characters in our squad who have been in this position before and hopefully this will stand us in good stead," Davies added.
Hosts Prestatyn are with leading scorer Lee Hunt, who is suspended, while defender Paul O'Neill faces a fitness test, but director of football Neil Gibson still believes his team are capable of achieving a result.
"Of course it’s a blow not to have Lee available, but there are players chomping at the bit for an opportunity," he told the Daily Post.
Prestatyn have never beaten TNS in the Welsh Premier, but Gibson added: BBeating TNS and Llanelli for the first time are two of the targets we hope to achieve before the end of the season.
"We haven’t really done ourselves justice on our visits to TNS this season, but we gave them a really tough game at home.
"It’s important to us that we have our own little say in the title race. We’ve done that by taking points off Bangor and want to do it at the expense of TNS too."
