Saints are up for the Shropshire Cup

TNS v TelfordTHE New Saints want to lift the Shropshire Senior Cup at the first attempt when they face AFC Telford United in the final at the New Bucks Head on Saturday (3.00pm). After beating a young Shrewsbury Town side 2-1 at the semi-final stage, director of football Mike Davies admits the clash with the Bucks will be a tougher test.
"We are delighted to be involved in the competition and want to give it our best shot," he says.
"We will prepare as we always do which is to win the game. We played them last year so we know about what they're about, but this is a competitive fixture so it will be completely different.
"It will give our players the chance to pit themselves against a strong side and everyone is looking forward to it."
Saints won last season's friendly affair 2-0.
The Bucks have since risen a division into the Blue Square Conference and their squad will include former TNS centre-back Rob Williams, who has spent the past two campaigns at Altrincham, as well as ex-midfielder Carl Rodgers.
Admission is £8 adults, £5 concessions including ages 14-18 and £1 for Under 14s.
