Saints bid to end five-year Airfield jinx

THE New Saints bid to end a five-year hoodoo in Saturday's live TV affair at The Airfield.
Despite topping the Welsh Premier table on goal difference after last weekend's game, TNS will be wary of Airbus UK Broughton, who have proved a tough nut to crack on home soil, and snatched a late draw last year after a controversial penalty award.
The Wingmakers have defeated TNS twice in the last four meetings at their Airfield home, while drawing the other two games.
“It has been a bogey place for us, we’ve not won there since 2006, so we’ll be taking nothing for granted,” said director of football Mike Davies.
"But we can go there with plenty of confidence. We had a bit of a barren start to the season, but we stuck to our guns and kept believing and it has paid off.
"We normally play at Airbus on Friday nights, so to go there on a Saturday is a unique experience.
"They've had a bit of a rough time, but they're playing well but not getting the results perhaps they deserve."
But the home side also have a jinx of their own - they have yet to score a goal in front of S4C's live cameras, let alone record a win.
Chris Marriott and Chris Williams are still sidelined by injury, but Scott Ruscoe will be available after celebrating the birth of son Caleb.
• Two of the Saints' Welsh Premier fixtures have been re-arranged. The home game with Llanelli has been brought forward 24 hours to Saturday 5 November (kick-off 3.45pm) to accommodate live TV coverage, while the away game at Neath has been put back 24 hours to Wednesday 9 November (7.30pm).
