Davies praises Draper's all-round class

ALTHOUGH Greg Draper had an off day in front of goal in Saturday's 3-2 win over Port Talbot, director of football Mike Davies is backing the striker's all-round class.
Visiting manager Mark Jones admitted that The New Saints could have scored five goals inside the first 20 minutes, with the Kiwi international being denied several times by Port Talbot keeper Bartek Fogler.
"The first half hour was our best performance for some time and we could have been five or six up at half time," Davies said.
"We had a lot of good chances and most of them fell to Greg, but he deserves a lot of credit for his performance.
"The only thing missing was a goal and he again showed he's a different class with his all-round game."
It was Draper's persistence that led to the second and third goals for Scott Ruscoe and Alex Darlington but the Saints allowed the Steelmen to reply on both occasions and Jones said: "Considering we were down to the bare bones the lads put in a great shift. I could not have asked any more from them.
"Saints were terrific in the opening 20 minutes and had the real look of champions. We could have been four or five down but our Polish keeper Bartek Fogler was superb.
"In the end we could have stolen a point - and I do mean stolen - but I was really pleased that heads did not drop when we were 2-0 down."
