Ladies fight back to earn a point
Tuesday 16 February 2010
Despite having most of the possession and creating most of the chances, TNS Ladies found themselves two down at the break, the first coming from a dubious free-kick which resulted in an unstoppable shot on the quarter-hour and the ladies were unlucky not be level when they conceded a second.
Five minutes into the second period a lapse in defence led to a penalty to put the girls three down but the revival started on the hour.
A superb ball from Chloe Mapp found Abby Francis who made no mistake and minute later almost doubled her tally when she hit the crossbar.
But two minutes later 16-year-old Sophie Davies again reduced the deficit with her first goal for the club.
Constant pressure for the rest of the game did not achieve a result until the final minute, when Alicia Robinson's great 25-yard free kick found the back of the net to complete a great comeback in a game that really should have been won.
The Ladies have another tough game this Sunday (February 21) when they entertain runaway league leaders and still-unbeaten Coventry City at Park Hall, kick-off 2.30pm and all support welcome.
