SAINTS NEED AIRFIELD LIFT-OFF
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON v THE NEW SAINTS
Fri 12 Dec 2008 / The Airfield / 7.30pm
Airbus v TNS
Although the Saints have a good record at The Airfield, they lost 2-0 there last season.
THE New Saints need a victory at Airbus UK Broughton on Friday night to keep them in touch with leading duo Rhyl and Llanelli.
Last season's visit to The Airfield ended in a 2-0 defeat - the Saints' first at the hands of the Wingmakers - and they go into this game again weakened by suspensions and injuries.
Midfielder Jamie Wood serves the second game of a three-match ban, while striker Michael Wilde starts his following dismissal in the League Cup semi-final success against Neath on Tuesday night.
Alex Darlington is available again following his one-match holiday, while midfielder John Leah is still sidelined with a hamstring problem.
The Wingmakers feel they have been playing well this season without getting the results they deserve.
"We beat them 2-0 at our place last season and, the way we’re playing at the moment, I think we can do it again. But, if not, at least give them a good game," says Airbus chairman Mick Mayfield.
"We’ve just got to start turning our possession into goals. We have totally dominated the last three or four games but still lost, which is a bit of a strange situation.
"We’ve been saying the last couple of weeks that someone is a due a beating. I don’t think TNS will be that team, but we can definitely give them a good game."
