ROMULUS
1-2 TNS LADIES |
  |
|
| |
The Roms took on last
season's Premier League runners up on a hot afternoon
looking to gain their first ponts of the season.
TNS opened the brighter creating early chances, with
Cottingham denying the visitors on more than one occasion.
The Roms defence were kept on their toes throughout
the opening 20 minutes. Wootton had a shot drift narrowly
wide after beng played in by Meddings playing in midfield
this week from her usual forward position.
With both teams playing some fine football chances
were falling to both teams without either able to
open the scoring.
Devlin and Arnold worked hard down the left but came
up against a young and hard working TNS defence.
On 35 minutes TNS opened the scoring after a forward
broke through the Roms defence and finished with style.
The Roms replaced Devlin with debutee Preece at half
time and the impact was almost immediate with good
play between Bennett and Wootton allowing Preece to
equalise on 50 minutes, this led to the Roms best
passage of play when with a little more accurancy
and luck they could have taken the lead.
TNS took control of the game in the last 20 minutes
and finally got their winner on the 90 minute mark,
after a goal-mouth scramble just two minutes earlier
almost gave the lead to TNS. Preece still had a chance
to equalise for the Roms but her shot flew just over
as the whistle went.
