Afan Lido play in Port Talbot and started life in 1967 in a local league.
In 1969 Lido moved into the South Wales Amateur League Second Division and then, in 1971, the Welsh League.
The club were founder members of the League of Wales in 1992 and also won the League of Wales Cup in 1992 and 1993.
In 1995 Lido were runners up to Bangor City in the LoW and suffered a narrow defeat to RAF Riga (Latvia) in the UEFA Cup. However, the UEFA cash was ploughed into ground improvements, which include an impressive grandstand.
Afan Lido lost their LoW status in 1996, but bounced back in 1998. |
