David Bridgwater
Dave Bridgwater scores against Caersws [Keith Williams/Sportpixs].
DAVID Bridgwater has signed for Aberystwyth Town.
He joins goalkeeper Dean Williams, who put pen to paper for the Seasiders last week.
Originally on the books of Preston North End, Shrewsbury-born Bridgwater came to Treflan in the summer of 2001 from then Conference club Telford United.
A defender/midfielder and set-piece specialist, he proved capable of slotting into the side in virtually any position and made 45 Welsh Premier appearances, plus 20 as substitute, scoring 11 goals during his three seasons with Saints.
He appeared also in all the club's Uefa Cup games, but found himself out of favour in the closing weeks of the season with the arrival of Barry Hogan from Runcorn.
Suspended keeper Dean Williams has also signed for the Seasiders.
Like Bridgwater, Deano joined Saints from Telford United in 2001 and made a total of 48 Welsh Premier appearances for the club.
Although Ged Doherty was first-choice with the gloves at the start of the last campaign, Williams - who is now 34 - appeared in the second leg of the Uefa Cup tie against Manchester City and was an automatic selection until a neck injury forced him out of the side.
He returned to fitness only to fall out with the management and was suspended.
Formerly with Doncaster Rovers and his home town club Tamworth, Williams had not played for Saints since the end of January and will now try to revive his fortunes with the Black & Greens.
