SAINTS kept their title challenge on track with a 1-0 win over Aberystwyth.
But it was the Seasiders' Andy Lee who got TNS out of jail at Treflan.
With the game deadlocked at 0-0 and deep into injury time, the defender handled
in the box from a Martyn Naylor cross.
Jamie Wood stepped up to send John Worsnop the wrong way and take TNS level
on points with Rhyl at the top of the table.
The win sets up the mother of all six-pointers at Belle Vue on Easter Sunday.
Gary Finley was dismissed for dissent after the penalty award, but with Lee,
Phil Baker and Aneurin Thomas, the Black & Greens' player/boss had been a rock
at the heart of a defence which resisted everything Saints could throw at them.
Although Michael Wilde and Steven Beck both shot wide for TNS in the first half,
Saints were guilty of playing too many long balls which were easily dealt with
by Finley and Thomas.
After the break, Steve Evans led the charge with two headers and a shot from
eight yards which all missed the target.
Aberystwyth's one and only real chance came late in the game, but on-loan Altrincham
keeper Richard Acton did well to turn a Marc Lloyd Williams shot away for a
TNS manager Ken McKenna felt TNS had the rub of the green.
“We never really created any clear cut chances and they were very strong at
the back,” he said.
