Saints await grant funding decision

THE New Saints are awaiting the outcome of an application for grant funding before starting the next phase of development at Park Hall Stadium.

General manager Ian Williams represented the club at Sunday's licensing workshop in Newtown when work needed to achieve the FAW's domestic licence was outlined to the 17 existing Welsh Premier clubs bidding for the licence, along with seven from the feeder leagues.
The licence is an essential requirement to qualify for next season's slimmed-down Welsh Premier "Super 12".
"Our application for funding towards the cost of providing a 1,000 seater covered stand, TV gantry and studio has been submitted to the Welsh Grounds Improvements Fund," says Williams.
"As soon as we know the outcome, work will then commence in order to complete the first phase of our ground development plan by March 2010."
Welshpool are the only current top flight club not to apply for a licence, while Afan Lido, Barry Town, Bridgend, Buckley Town, Caernarfon Town, Llandudno and Llangefni are bidding for promotion.
