Squad signs-up for next season

VIRTUALLY all of last season's championship-winning squad will have signed deals to remain with the Saints by the end of this week.

With more than half the players already contracted for next season, goalkeeper Paul Harrison and midfielders Barry Hogan and Chris Seargeant, who is recovering from a double hernia operation, were the lastest to put pen to paper yesterday.
Youngsters John McKenna, Ryan Marriott and Craig Whitfield have already signed, while long-serving duo Scott Ruscoe and Tommy Holmes will pen new deals later this week, and Phil Baker when he returns from holiday.
With the exception of Conall Murtagh, who has been released, the only player not to be offered terms for the next campaign is stalwart midfielder Jamie Wood, who has indicated his intention to return for pre-season training and fight for a place in the squad.
Meanwhile, managing director Mike Harris says he will sit down and talk about strengthening the squad when new manager Mike Davies returns from honeymoon.
"We will probably be looking to bring in possibly two players but we will be ensuring that we get the right players," he said.
After Davies used some of his squad players to retain the Loosemores League Cup at two weeks ago, Harris also expressed his satisfaction with the way the season had gone.
"We have won a double, but with a little bit more fortune we would have had a treble including the Welsh Cup," he added.
And he praised the efforts of Llanelli, who had taken the Welsh Premier season into the final day.
"We have performed exceptionally well but we have been pushed all the way.
"That is good for the Welsh Premier League and made for an exciting season."
