Saints head to Llanelli for pre-season friendly
Friday 18 June 2021
THE New Saints get their first match action since returning to training when they travel to face last season's runners-up Llanelli at Stebonheath Park on Saturday (kick-off now confirmed for 3.00pm).
Both sides are eagerly awaiting the Uefa draws in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday, when the Saints are in the pot for the second qualifying round of the Champions League, and the Reds in the first qualifying round of the Europa Cup.It will be the first chance to see new signing Matty Williams in action for TNS, while manager Mike Davies is likely to run the rule over a couple of other trialists.
Also back in the squad is young goalkeeper Simon Williams, who has returned from his loan spell with Prestatyn Town to provide cover for Paul Harrison.
There have been quite a few changes at Stebonheath since the end of the last campaign, with manager Andy Legg forced to omit six experience players from his European squad and instead promote several members from the highly-successful Llanelli Under-19 team.
Stephen Evans, Michael Howard, Lee Jarman, Andrew Mumford, Lee Phillips and Owain Warlow are the casualties of the financial situation.
