Valentine's Day drinks offer for League Cup

SUPPORTERS can take advantage of a Valentine's Day drinks offer when The New Saints begin the defence of the League Cup trophy at Park Hall on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Two drinks for the price of one is available to all spectators as director of football Craig Harrison faces his former side for the first time since switching from The Airfield in the New Year.
Winners of the trophy for the past three years, the Saints received a bye into the quarter-finals, while the Wingmakers defeated Bala Town 5-3 on aggregate in the first round.
Both sides will give a run-out to their young guns, with Sam Finley, Marcus Giglio and Charlie Proctor among those likely to feature for TNS.
New Airbus director of football Andy Preece has a number of injury problems, with Gavin Cadwallader (cheek), and Glenn Rule (knee ligaments) definitely ruled out of contention.
The sides have met over two legs four times previously in the competition with TNS winning every time, including an 11-0 thrashing of a young Airbus side at Treflan in 2006.
Last seaon's meeting at the same stage ended with a 2-0 win at Park Hall and a 2-2 away draw at The Airfield as the Saints went on to win the cup for the third season running.

Shoot-out woe

Wrexham v TNS
The Saints suffered the agony of a 5-4 penalty shoot-out defeat to Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground in the 2006 semi-final.
TNS twice led the League Two outfit in normal time and again the shoot-out, before goalkeeper Gerard Doherty (above consoled by Chris King) missed the vital spot kick.

Ninian joy

Cardiff City v TNS
TNS beat Cardiff City 1-0 at Ninian Park on their way to the 2007 final success. John Leah is pictured celebrating with Jamie Wood.
