Davies focused on Prestatyn test

MANAGER Mike Davies is putting European adventures to the back of his mind as he targets a winning start for the Saints in Friday's Welsh Premier curtain-raiser against Prestatyn Town (7.45pm).

The boss has been clocking up the air miles in recent weeks on spying missions and away legs against Bohemians, Anderlecht and CSKA Sofia, next week's Europa League play-off opponents.
But, while airport departure lounges are now almost as familiar as his own home, Davies is firmly focused on defending the domestic league title.
"Our European experiences have been exciting and a great preparation which we've got to use it as a stepping stone for the Welsh Premier," he says.
"It's important we get off to a good start against Prestatyn and the lads will be single-minded in their approach to the game.
"We'll only start thinking about CSKA when we've put that first league game behind us."
The Saints beat the Seasiders 5-0 in last season's opener at Park Hall, but Davies is expecting a stern test from the Bastion Road outfit.
"Their manager, Neil Gibson, has made two good signings this summer in Ross Stephens and Lee Hunt and we certainly won't under-estimate the challenge they pose," he added.
"Every game in the new-look league is going to be tough and, as champions, we expect every team we face to raise their game."
Davies will be without left-back Chris Marriott, injured in the away leg at Anderlecht, and Wales Under-23 semi-pro midfielder Aeron Edwards, who has a knee injury.
