Super Saints march into youth cup final

THE New Saints reached the final of the FAW Youth Cup for the first time in their history with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Wrexham at Cefn Druids on Sunday.

An end-to-end affair was not settled until deep into stoppage time, when Scott Quigley completed a hat-trick to seal the victory,
Wrexham took the lead on 13 minutes when a corner was headed clear by Sean Ellis only as far as Matthew Owen, who returned the ball with interest from 25-yards. Keeper Alex Ramsay could only parry the shot and Ed Marsh seized on the rebound.
The Saints levelled on 27 minutes when Quigley's shot was blocked by Wrexham keeper Louis Gray and Ryan Jones tucked away the rebound from close range.
Three minutes after the break, TNS took the lead when Daniel Roberts fed Quigley who turned his man before hitting an angled right-foot shot into the far corner.
Wrexham hit back just past the hour when a Marsh corner was headed clear by Aaron Simms but James Colbeck volleyed the ball back into the roof of the net.
Quigley restored the lead following a Strong run by Dan Roberts, but the advantage lasted only three minutes before a mix-up between Ramsay and Ellis allowed Jonathan Royle to head into an empty net.
Saints were back in front again in the 80th-minute when keeper Gray took out Quigley's attempt to reach a Dan Roberts cross and was red-carded. Sub keeper Louis Moss took over and his first task was to fish Tom Allen's spot kick out of the net.
And, in the 94th-minute, TNS joy was completed when Tim Hardy's long ball forward found Quigley who tucked the ball past Moss for the fifth goal.
